The Fitzroy to Gladstone pipeline (FGP) has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2026 Infrastructure Sustainability Council Awards — Excellence in Economic Outcomes and Excellence in Social Outcomes.

The recognition highlights the project’s strong contribution to economic growth, community outcomes and long-term water security for the Gladstone region and Central Queensland.

Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) CEO Darren Barlow said the shortlisting reflects the collaborative efforts of the project team and principal contractor, McConnell Dowell BMD Joint Venture.

“This is a great achievement for everyone involved in delivering the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline,” he said.

“The shortlisting recognises the work undertaken to support local businesses, create employment opportunities and engage meaningfully with communities and Traditional Owners.

“It also highlights the importance of delivering infrastructure in a way which provides lasting benefits for the region.”

The Excellence in Economic Outcomes category acknowledges the project’s contribution to regional supply chains, workforce participation and the protection of economic activity in one of Australia’s key industrial regions.

The Excellence in Social Outcomes category recognises the project’s commitment to community engagement, partnerships with Traditional Owners, and a strong focus on workforce wellbeing and inclusion.

Barlow said the shortlisting was a testament to the collaborative approach taken throughout the project.

“This outcome is a credit to GAWB, McConnell Dowell BMD Joint Venture, project partners, suppliers and sub-contractors, and the many people who have contributed to achieving these results,” he said.

Winners of the 2026 ISC Awards will be announced later this year.
